John Chinn (d.ca.1691) immigrated from England to Morattico Creek, Lancaster County, Virginia and married twice. Descendants and relatives listed lived chiefly in Virginia, with many in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, Washington and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated to British Columbia and elsewhere in Canada.
Includes Ball, Belfield, Downman, Fauntleroy, Glascock, Lawson, McCarty, Mitchell, Noland, Shearman, Sydnor, Tarpley, Wilson (Willson) and related families.
