John Adams emigrated from England and settled in Maryland, where he is supposed to have married Elizabeth Nailer. They had at least five sons. He died in Charles County, Maryland, in 1741. His grandson, Randolph Adams, was born in 1768, the son of Randolph Greenfield and Elizabeth Swan Adams. He married Sarah Herndon in 1801. They migrated from Henry County, Virginia, to Knox County, Kentucky, in 1807. They had nine children, 1801-1814. He died in Knox County, Kentucky, in 1848. Descendants listed lived in Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa, and elsewhere.

Includes the White, Ballinger, and other related families.
