Notes

Before 1896, probate matters were handled in the territorial probate courts. These were abolished in 1896 and jurisdiction transferred to the state district courts.

The territorial period files (prior to 1897) are arranged alphabetically by first letter of surname. The files from 1897-1918 are arranged chronologically, although some may be out of order. They are generally arranged by earliest probate paper in the file.
