The church was organized in 1888 as the Evangelische Friedensgemeinde. It was also known as Freedoms Church or German Evangelical Lutheran Peace Congregation. The name was changed to Friedens Evangelical Church in 1931 although some records say it was changed to Peace Evangelical Church in 1932. Sometimes the name is shortened to Friedens Church. Information on burials and cemetery deeds are included in these cemetery records along with financial records and minutes.
