John Riddle (1803-1887), son of Isaac Riddle and Anna Grizzel, was born along the Clinch River in Hawkins County, TN. He married Elizabeth Wilson Stewart in Boone County, KY in 1822. They were converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1843 in Hickman Co., KY and joined the Saints in Nauvoo the following Spring. After the martyrdom of Joseph Smith in June, 1844 the family joined the Emmett Co. mission to the Indians in the territory of Iowa for two years. Upon arriving at the Missiouri River, John was called to serve a mission in KY. When he returned from this mission, the family joined the Latter-day Saints in Utah, moving to North Ogden shortly after their arrival. Isaac Riddle (1830-1906), their fifth child, was called to serve a mission in southern Utah to the Indians with Jacob Hamblin. He was married four times, helped build temples in St. George, Logan and Manti, and settled in Beaver, Utah. When he retired he moved to Provo, Utah. Descendants and relatives moved to Illinois, Iowa, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, California and elsewhere.
