William Newsom (ca. 1635-ca. 1660) immigrated to Virginia in 1635. He married at least three times and perhaps four. His son, William Newsom, was born in Surry County, Virginia, in 1648. He married Mrs. Anne Sheppard Hart, widow of Thomas Hart and daughter of Major Robert Sheppard, in 1669. They had six children. He died in Surry County in 1691. Descendants listed lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Indiana, and elsewhere.
