Ancestral families of the author, Mildred Edith Young Aday, and her brother and sisters. She was born in 1911 at Athol, Smith County, Kansas, the daughter of Walter Dwight and Hattie Jeanette Loshbaugh Young. Walter Dwight Young was born in 1887 in Smith County, Kansas, the son of John Walling Young (1856-1925) and Sarah Rebecca Wherry Young (1862-1942). He married Hattie Jeanette Loshbaugh in 1910. They had six children 1911-1928, born in Kansas and Colorado. He died in 1941 in Washington County, Colorado. Hattie Jeanette Loshbaugh was born in 1890 near Riverton, Franklin County, Nebraska, the daughter of Albert Dennis Loshbaugh (1847-1904) and Mary Ann Drake Loshbaugh (1853-1899). She died in 1944 at Denver, Colorado.

Ancestors include Nathan Noble Young (1806-1848 of Anne Arundel County, Maryland and Tuscarawas County, Ohio); Henry Losbough (b. ca. 1751 of Berks County and Northumberland Counties, Pennsylvania; David Wherry (d. 1743 of North Ireland and Chester County, Pennsylvania; and John Drake (ca. 1591-1659 of Wiscomb, Devonshire, England, and Windsar, Hartford County, Connecticut).
