Includes indexes of names and ships.

"The records used in this volume, in addition to the usual spread of sources, derive principally from 1) Plantation apprenticeship Bindings; 2) Port Books; 3) Convict Pardons on Condition of Transportation. Records in the first group survive only for Liverpool and London, though for a run of at least fifteen years for London they are superb. Records in the second group do not include London, as all London Port Books after 1700 were deliberately destroyed, but they are substantially complete for the ports of Bristol, Liverpool, Newcastle, Whitehaven, Southampton, Portsmouth, Poole, Weymouth and Lyme, Exeter, Bideford and Dartmouth, and Plymouth. Records comprising the third group, Convict Pardons, are taken from the great series of Patent rolls for the years 1700 to 1719, after which date such records ceased.".

"As with other volumes in this series, entries are arranged by year and thereunder by date of record, giveing, generally, a mix of information that includes name, age, occupation, residence, ship, and destination, and for each entry there is a precise source citation"--Book jacket.
