Notes

Microfilm of original records at the Library, Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia.

The genealogy was from Tinkling Spring Congregation of Augusta County, Virginia, and assembled by Howard M. Wilson. The Bible was offered by Miss Johnston of the Lexington Cogregation, Rockbridge County, Virginia.

There were several William Johnstons in early Augusta County but this record follows the William Johnston who was a Tinkling Spring elder. He and his wife, Ann, came from Maryland ca. 1740. It lists his descendants, ca. 1737-1847, some whom moved to Tennessee. It also includes some information on the McChesney family.

Contains family genealogy (5 leaves, typescript) and Bible records (start with Zachariah Johnston and wife Ann Robertson and lists their descendants ca. 1763-1880).
