Genealogical data was assembled by Howard M. Wilson. The Bible was offered by Mrs Margaret Carroll of the Augusta Stone Congregation, Augusta County, Virginia.

The earliest Byers in Augusta County records was William Byers in 1754. This record lists a few Byers in Augusta and Rockbridge counties, Virginia, ca. 1766-1853. It also gives a typed copy of the Byars' Bible from Washington County, Virginia, which starts with Arthur Bowen Byars born in 1794 and includes descendants to 1884.

Contains family data (1 leaf, typescript), additional Bible records (start with David Marshall Byers married in 1877 to Annetta Poage and includes descendants to 1940; also includes Poage family ca. 1805-1876), and obituaries.
