The Hamilton County Court House had a fire in 1884, which destroyed a number of documents. Many of these documents were later restored by having citizens bring their own copies into the Court House for transcription. The restoration of naturalization papers represents naturalization records (Second papers) which were brought into the Court House for transcription between 1887-1926. The documents transcribed, however, date as far back as the 1830's (and perhaps earlier).
