Ralph Jackson (c1650-c1709) emigrated from Yorkshire, England and settled in Virginia as an indentured servant. He married Leah Williams, the daughter of William Williams. His son Ralph Jackson (II), was issued an original patent in 1737 for land upon which five generations of Jacksons have lived in Henrico (after 1749 Chesterfield) Co., VA. A descendant, Burwell Jackson (1783-1810), married Nancy Thompson in 1803 in Mecklenburg Co., VA and then migrated to Kentucky with his brothers, Leroy and John. Another brother, Francis Jackson, resided at the family seat. Several generations of descendants are given.

Includes Perkinson, Burton, Dunnevant, Hollyfield, Courter, Bristow and other related families.
