The title "Mortuary records" was supplied by the Special Collections Section of the California State Library, Sacramento. The file actually indexes burial records from a variety of sources in the library's collection.

Contains a card file arranged in alphabetical order by surname of burials in the northern California area ca. 1849-1900. Includes name of deceased, age and date of birth, date and cause of death, name of attending physicial (if known), and place of burial: along with a listing of the various sources for burial information.
