The Portuguese Union of the State of California, also known as the Supreme Council of Union of Portuguese established in California, is a benevolent society set up to provide insurance benefits to the surviving spouses, children, or parents of its members.

Death claim registers include name of deceased, number in register, date of death, date admitted to society, proof of death, policy value, beneficiaries, payments, membership information. Registers are kept by the society's chapters in various cities in California.
