David Shelton, was the son of Lewis Shelton (1785-1847) and Nancy Gladdin. Lewis was born in Patrick County, Virginia and later moved to Missouri in 1819. Nancy was the daughter of Jared Gladdin of Green County, Tennessee. David was born in North Carolina and married Frances Willson in 1837. They later moved to Oregon and Washington.
