At her death, he married (2) Mary Lewis, daughter of Colonel Robert Lewis and Jane Meriwether of "Belvoir", Albemarle Co., VA and widow of Samuel Cobbs of Louisa Co. Several generations of ancestors and descendants are given.

Thomas, Samuel and James Bell emigrated from Scotland to Ireland and then to the Colonies in 1740 and settled and married in Pennsylvania near Canakadig. Then Thomas and James moved to Virginia and settled in Augusta or Amherst Counties. Thomas Bell was the father of: Betsy, John, Mary, James, Thomas (b.1754) married Judy Thompson.
