Notes

Chiefly ancestors, relatives and family of the author's father, Thomas Granville Pullen (1854-1925). He was born on his father's farm, about four miles from Liberty, now Bedford, Virginia, and son of Jesse Abason Pullen (1831-1906) and Frances Miles Walker Pullen (1830-1914). He married Annie Brown Hilldrup in 1886 at Smithfield, Virginia. They had eight children, 1889-1904.

Ancestors include: Henry Pullen (d. 1698) of White Chapel Parish, Lancaster County, Virginia -- Robert Walker (1729-1797), a captain in the Revolutionary War, of Virginia -- Thomas Hudnall (d. ca. 1738) of Prince Edward County, Virginia.
