Notes

Microfilm of records in possession of the Registrar's Office, Windsor, Ontario.

The city of Detroit, which is now in Wayne County, Michigan, was originally in Quebec, then in Upper Canada, which is now known as Ontario. Detroit was turned over to the United States by treaty in 1796. There are some records for later years for that part of Detroit which was on the east (Canadian) side of the Detroit River, in Sandwich Township. Most of the early records for Detroit are in French.

Most volumes are individually indexed.
