Archibald Prater (1755-1831) moved from Halifax County, Virginia to become a pioneer settler in Floyd County, Kentucky. He married Sarah Sarah Fugate, daughter of Josiah and Elizab;eth Fugate of Floyd County, Kentucky. Descendants and relatives lived in Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Washington, Florida and elsewhere.
