Descendants of George Smith (1731-1804), son of John Smith (Johann Schmidt) (b. ca. 1710), the immigrant from Germany. He died in Stockton Valley, Cumberland Co., Kentucky. He was married to Rebecca Bowen (ca. 1748-1830), daughter of John Bowen, Jr. and Rachel Mathews, ca. 1768 in Augusta Co., Va. She was born in Ireland and died in Overton Co., Tennessee. The early Bowers ancestor, Christian Bowers, Sr. (1743-before 1816), was born in Germany and died in Shenandoah Co., Va. He was married to Elizabeth Schindeldecker. He was naturalized in Pennsylvania in 1772. Rev. Joseph Hull (1596-1665), the immigrant, was born in Crewkerne, Somersetshire, England to Thomas Hull and Joane Peson. He died in York, Massachusetts. The immigrant ancestor of the Beaty family, John Beaty, was born ca. 1725 in Ireland. He came to Pennsylvania from Ireland ca. 1750. He was first married to Margaret Montgomery. After her death he migrated to Rowan Co., North Carolina, where he married the second time. He had eight children from his first marriage, who were all born in Pennsylvania. He had three children from his second marriage, who were born in North Carolina.

Family members live in Tennessee, Michigan, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, and elsewhere.
