Joseph Grafton was in Salem, Massachusetts as early as 1636. "It is not known from what part of England Joseph Grafton came ... ".--P. (1). His first wife was Mary, daughter of Thomas and Ann Moore of Southwold, England. They had at least five children. After her death in 1674, Joseph married Bethia Rea (Ray), daughter of Daniel Rea and widow of Captain Thomas Lathrop. After Joseph died (about 1682) in Barbadoes, Bethia married Deacon William Goodhue. She died in 1686. Descendants remained in New England.
