The Dickinson and Shrewsbury families of Bedford County, Virginia joined in a mercantile business in Franklin County, Virginia in 1804. The accumulated papers and notes of William Dickinson, Jr. pertaining to an 1858 lawsuit to dissolve the partnership of Dickinson and Shrewsbury are summarized in the present work. Descendants of these two families still live in Virginia.
