All of the Lee children died intestate without issue. Miss Lee owned 281 acres of timberland in King George County. By Virginia law, precedes from the land was to go equally to her paternal and maternal kindred. The research on which this book is based was done to find her heirs-at-law.

Richard married Elizabeth Alsop Barrett, widow of John Barrett, ca. 1775. They had six children, 1776-1787. William Potts married Batsy Wilkerson, ca. 1783. They had three children. Their son, William Potts, Jr. (ca. 1785-1841), Miss Lee's grandfather, was born in King George County, Virginia. He married Jane Rogers, in 1817. They had eight children, 1817-1835.
