Handwritten genealogy of descendants of William E. Kelly, son of Richard T. Kelly and letter written by Kathryn Lucille Kelly Oxley contained in back of book.

"James Kelly was born in Scotland in 1752. In his youth he and his brother John came to what was then known as the colonies of North America. ... James and his brother John first settled in Virginia, and about 1793, John and his family accompanied James and his family to Fleming County, Kentucky, at a point near Flemingsburg. When James Kelly came to Ohio, John remained in Kentucky."--P. 6. James later returned to Monongalia County, Virginia (now West Virginia) where he married Catherine Stewart who was of Scottish decent. "She was born in 1764, in Scotland."--P. 9. In 1793 the Kellys left Monongalia County and settled near Flemingsburg, Kentucky where they stayed for about fifteen years. They later moved to the Springfield, Ohio area. James Kelly died 30 August 1837. His wife Catherine died 26 May 1853. Descendants lived in Ohio, Kentucky, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, California, Wisconsin, Montana, Alabama, Washington and elsewhere.
