William Lampton (1724-1790) immigrated about 1740 from England to Page County, Virginia, and married Patsy Schooler in 1763. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, Kansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Florida, Texas, California, Mississippi, Colorado, Oklahoma and elsewhere. Descendants included Samuel L. Clemens, also known as Mark Twain.

Includes Bradley, Clemens, Crosswhite, Harrison, McKinsey, Trowbridge, Reid, Fretwell, Fisher, Zinser, Maddox, Keith, Ridgeway, Harvey, Embree, Vaughn, Cason, Kerfoot and related families.
