Various Thompson families of Blount Co., Tennessee. One such family is that of James Thompson, heir of Ephraim Brabson. James Thompson (1792-1865) was the son of Mary Reese Brabson, widow of John Brabson and her second husband Mr. Thompson. John Brabson (ca. 1746-1782) and Mary Reese (b. 1750) were both born in Wales. They married in 1768 and lived in Frederick Co., Va. (later became Berkeley Co.). They had six children born between 1771 and 1781. Mary had seven more children with her second husband, whom she married in 1784. Their children were born between 1786 and 1804. James Thompson married Martha "Patsy" Thompson, who was a daughter of another Thompson family of Virginia.
