James McCleskey (1755-1842) was born in Pennsylvania and married Isabella Rhea in Augusta County, Virginia. They had at least three children, 1782-ca. 1803. He served in the Revolutionary War from North Carolina. The family lived in Georgia after the war and he died there. His son, David Henderson McCleskey was born in 1783 in Abbeville District, South Carolina. He married Martha J. Jarrett in 1803. They had ten children, 1804-1824, born in Georgia. Eight of the children or their children migrated to Texas. Their descendants lived in Texas, Oklahoma, California, and elsewhere.
