Susan Clark was born in 1943 at Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, the daughter of Rev. Woodrow Wilson and Annie Ruth Wilson Clark. She married Richard Keith Slaymaker in 1941 at Clinton, Mississippi. Rev. Woodrow Wilson Clark was born in 1917 in Neshoba County, Mississippi, the son of John Arthur Hendrix Clark (1885-1975) and Ina Elnora Breland Clark (1890-1972). He married Annie Ruth Wilson in 1942 in Neshoba County. She was born in 1819 at Neshoba, Mississippi, the daughter of William Ruby Wilson (1893-1964) and Jennie Eddie Houston (1894-1982). She died in 1986 at Neshoba, Mississippi.

Ancestors include: Joseph Clark (before 1755-1810) of South Carolina; Simpson A. Wilson (1826-1894) of Alabama and Yazoo County, Mississippi; Henry Rufus Houston (before 1761-ca. 1833); and Edward Breland (1800-1840) of Beaufort County, South Carolina, Louisiana, and Newton County, Mississippi.
