John Threlkeld (ca.1717-1772), presumably the son of Deodatus Threlkeld and Jemima Burrows, emigrated from Bermuda to Brunswick County, Virginia after 1732. Descendants (most spelled the surname as Threadgill) lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, California and elsewhere.

Includes Threlkeld, Adams, Beverly, Cook, Dutton, Gilmore, Kindred, Vaughn, Vick, West and related families.
