"This book contains photostat prints of the first part of the Albemarle Parish Register (Surry and Sussex Counties, Virginia), 1739-1778. The original, from which many pages have been lost, is owned by the Virginia Historical Society." -- Typed note at beginning.
Albemarle Parish was formed in 1738 to cover the southern part of Surry County. In 1754 Sussex County was created from Surry County and Albemarle Parish covered that county. Any part of the parish which remained in Surry County was added to Southwark Parish.
Contains numerical count or financial statistical information for holidays 1748-1778, births and christenings 1739-1782, births of "negro & mulatto slaves" 1730-1758, deaths 1739-1778, and deaths of "negroes" 1739-1778.
