This is v. 21A of the Robert MacKay Sr. family history.

The earliest known ancestor of this family was Jacob Sowers, Sr. (b. ca. 1710, d. 1781), who was born somewhere in Germany. His emigration date is not known, but it is believed that he came to Frederick Co., Virginia from Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. His wife's name was Mary. They had at least five children. The oldest Jacob Sowers, Jr. was born ca. 1742 in Frederick Co., Va. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, Missouri, Maryland, Georgia, Washington, North Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois,Colorado, England, Germany and elsewhere.
