Notes

A bond is a legal document wherein a person commits himself, his heir, executors and administrators to pay a required amount of money to another if certain duties are not performed. These were paid by people to act as administrators of a persons estate and may include some bonds for guardians or executors.

Volume numbers may have been arbitrarily given by W.P.A. workers in 1936 for the purpose of creating a general index to all of the bond books. These numbers should be ignored here as there seems to be no missing volumes.

Volumes are individually indexed.

Microfilm of original records at the Virginia State Library in Richmond, Virginia, and at the Middlesex County Courthouse in Saluda, Virginia.
