Joshua Hightower (ca. 1675-1716) was living in Richmond County, Virginia, by 1698. He named in his will, sons, Thomas and Charnel, and "four other children." Research has shown one of these children to be "Austin Hightower." Living in Richmond County, Virginia, ca. 1725-1750 were the families of Charnel Hightower, son of Joshua; Joshua Hightower, born before 1700, and and John Hightower, born ca. 1695. These men were perhaps related. Known descendants of Charnel, Austin, Joshua, and John Hightower, lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Indiana, and elsewhere.
