The register of marriages, 1740-1854, was "an abstract of all original Middlesex County marriage bonds and connecting papers, from 1740-1854, compiled by assistants in the Archives Division of the Virginia State Library. ...February 6, 1933."--P. [172].
The register of marriages, also called marriage register, was divided into two sections; the first with information copied from marriage bonds 1740-1852 and the second with information copied from minister's returns 1785-1854. Gives date of bond or marriage, name of husband, name of wife, names of parents or guardians of husband and wife (if known), names of security and witnesses (if known), and name of minister (if known).
