Members of the Tuck family first arrived in New England and Virginia about 1635-1637. The first family member to arrive in New England was Robert Tuck, who emigrated from England about 1636 and settled in Watertown, Massachusetts. He later moved to Hampton, New Hampshire, where he died in 1664, leaving a wife, Joanna, and five children.

Early Tuck family immigrants to Virginia were Warram Tuck, 1635; William Tuck, 1639; Ann Tuck, 1656; and Woodhouse Tuck, 1642. The Tuck family became established in Halifax County, Virginia, and continues there to the present time. Among the members of the family in Halifax County in pre-Revolutionary times were Edward Tuck, Thomas Tuck, Josiah Tuck, John Tuck, Cary Tuck and William Tuck.
