Films' title boards are not always accurate.

Jefferson County was part of Virginia until 1863 when it became part of West Virginia.

Much of this material was organized by the Historical Records Survey.

These loose papers include some references to the regular books of the court. It includes some pieces of these records and some printed court information.

The material is not in date order and some items are not dated. The dates given are basic dates but individual items may be found outside these dates.

Contains loose court documents which were probably used as evidence in cases or as clerks' notes from the County Court, Superior Court of Chancery (Winchester District), Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery, Circuit Court, District Court of U.S. for Western District of Virginia, and perhaps other courts.

Includes printed court materials including some newspaper clippings relating to the cases.
