In order to locate the compiled service records of a soldier, the unit in which he served must be known, or located thru the use of an index.
The library has a microfilm of these compiled service records of Confederate soldiers from the state of South Carolina. See entry in the Author/Title catalog: United States. The library has a consolidated index on microfilm which duplicates the information contained in this state index.
