Vol. 3 and 4 have the subtitle: A history and genealogy.
Vol. 2 is by Bernie and Carol (Bean) MacBean. Vols. 3-4 give the author's name as Bernie (Bean) MacBean.
Vol. 1 is a 5th edition (1985). Vol. 2 is a 4th edition (c1976).
Vol. 2 was published in Cleveland, Texas.
John Bean, son of Donald MacBean, was born in about 1634 in Strathdern, Inverness, Scotland. As a prisoner of war, he was shipped to Boston as an indentured servent in 1652. He settled Exeter, Massachusetts, in 1660. John married Hannah Lissen, daughter of Nicholas Lissen, 18 April 1654. They had three children. He married Margaret in about 1660. They had nine children. Their descendants, and those of other MacBean (Bean, etc.) progenitors also settled in Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, South South Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Tennessee, Vermont, and in Canada. Later families also migrated throughout the United States and Canada.
