Population registration for the city of Graz, Steiermark, Austria. There are 2 sections of names: 1876-1892 and 1892-1925. For the years 1876-1892 the alphabetical sequence is determined by first consonant followed by the first vowel. Other consonants are disregarded. For the years 1892-1925 the following letters are filed together: P with B; T with D; Ä, Ö with E; Ai, Aj, Eu with Ei, V, W with F; J, Ü, Y with I, Ch, Ck, G, Q with K; Cz, Sch, Tsch, Z with S. After an initial consonant or consonant group, the names are alphabetical by vowel sound.
