He died in Lumpkin County, Georgia. His grandson, Eli Townsend (ca. 1809- 1849), was born in Morgan County, Georgia, the son of Edward Townsend (1789-1860). He and his wife, Sarah (Sally) Dyer (b. 1808), had at least seven children, 1826-ca. 1845. He probably died in Union County, Georgia.
