Notes

Thomas Joseph Smith (ca.1718-1793) was a son of Sir Sidney (Sydney?) Smith, an English nobleman. Thomas married Kitty Anderson, daughter of Sir Walter Anderson of Wales and the British army. The young couple immigrated to Richmond (later Fauquier) County, Virginia. Thomas Clagett (d.1703) was a son of Colonel Edward Clagett of the British army, and emigrated in 1670 from England to Lenardtown, Maryland. John Price (b.1584) and his family emigrated from Wales to Jamestown, Virginia in 1620, and became a landowner in Henrico County, Virginia. Descendants and relatives of these three immigrants lived in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and elsewhere. Includes much family history and genealogi- cal data in England, Wales and elsewhere (with the Smith family often spelling the surname as Smythe in England).
