Microfilm of originals in the Connecticut State Library in Hartford, Connecticut.

What is now the First Church in New London is believed to have been organized in Gloucester, Massachusetts in 1642 and to have removed to New London a few years later. Part of New London, First Society was set off as East New London Society (Groton) in October 1703. Part was set off as New London North Society (Montville) in May 1720. Part was set off as East Lyme Society (Niantic) in May 1726. Parts were set off as parts of Chesterfield Society in January 1769 and May 1809.

Includes the records of the First Ecclesiastical Society.
