The church began in 1879 under the name Deutsche Evangelische Friedensgemeinde (or Evangelische Friedens Gemeinde). The name was changed in 1934 to Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church. In 1957 it became the Peace United Church of Christ (or just United Church of Christ) when the Evangelical and Reformed Church united with the General Council of the Congregational Christian Churches of the United States.

The cemetery is part of the Alma Cemetery and may be known as the United Church of Christ section. The church cares for this section of the cemetery and may keep separate records from those of the city cemetery.

Contains record of interments 1904, 1916 (p. 1) and lot records [no dates] (p. 43-67). The record of interments have only 2 entries which give name of deceased, dates of death and interment, age, sex, late residence, birthplace, cause of death, grave location, name of nearest relatives or friends, and undertaker's name. The lot records are in order by lot number and give the name of the lot owner, lot number, names of interred, and other information. This information is not always complete.
