The town of Hartford was formed from Whitestown, April 12, 1827.

Contains cemeteries of Herkimer County: Columbia Reformed Church, Gorsline, Haner Settlement, Hazelton, George Purchase Farm, Herkimer Homestead, Frankfort, Fort Herkimer, Oak Hill, Crossett-Tanner, Staring-Sterling, Bettinger-Ellis, Rose family, Bloomfield, Little Lakes, Paul Crim, Old Cemetery, Jordanville, Marshall-Hicks Burying-ground and Methodist Espicopal Church.

Contains cemeteries of Madison County: Whipple-Clarke-Babcock Farm (Hamilton township), Oneida Valley, John Taft Farm, William Ray Farm (Lenox or Sullivan township).

Contains cemeteries of Oneida County: South Augusta (Augusta township), East Street Cemetery, Fairview (Bridgewater township), Sherman (Deerfield township), Brimfield Street, Clinton, Old Kirkland (Kirkland township), Cleaver (Mercy township), Old South Street or Oxford Road (New Hartford township), Sangerfield (Sangerfield township), Old Cemetery (Steuben township), Carmichael (Western township).

Contains cemetery records from Otsego County: Angell-Lewis (Exeter township), Church Street, Richfield Springs, Episcopal Church, Lakeview, M.E. Contains church records of Presbyterian Church of New Hartford, which was first organized as a Congregational Church called The First Religious Society of Whitestown, changed to Presbyterian in 1809, (baptisms, 1791-1800, 1835-1872; marriages, 1792-1803, 1835-1870; and burials, 1792-1797, 1835-1870) and the Reformed Church of of Columbia (Columbia, Herkimer County), (baptisms 1802-1836, and marriages 1803-1836).

Contains bible and miscellaneous records of Revolutionary soldiers and officers graves, and historic spots. Revolutionary soldiers graves listed 1926 are: Bridgewater, Deerfield, Floyd, Town Kirkland, Town Marcdy, Town New Hartford, Town Paris, Town Sangerfield, Town Trenton, City of Utica, Town Vernon, Town Verona, Town Westmoreland, Terrytown, Unadilla Forks and Town Plainfield.
