In 1900 the estimated population of chicago was 2,010,000; the school census was independently announced as 2,007,000. However, the Federal Census Bureau announced Chicago's 1900 population was 1,698,575. The unsatisfactory methods and blunders in taking the 1900 census demonstrate that no credence can be placed on a census which is radically out of harmony with every other computation derived from any source whatsoever; therefore, Chicago's approximate population today [1902] is, in round numbers, 2,144,000. .
