Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and family history of the Barron (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from Austria, Bagni, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Russia, Scotland, and Wales. Some descend from the Barons of Barnchurch and Lord Gerald of Offaby, Kilkenny County, Ireland. The patronymic name of the Barons of that church was Fitzgerald, through Maurice Fitzgerald, a lineal descendant of Lord Gerald, forerunner of the Irish Fitzgerald family, which had three branches. The first branch took the surname Fitzgerald, the second took Gerald, and the third took Baron (later changed to Barron). Some Barron families settled in Barbados, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia in the 1600s. One immigrant ancestor was Robert Barron (born ca.1617), an Englishman who arrived at Jamestown ca. 1635, and settled Kent Island, Talbot County, Maryland. Another was Joseph Barrand or Barron, born ca. 1667 at St. Michaels Parish in Barbados. He married Elizabeth ca. 1691 in Talbot County, Maryland. In the 1700s, some Barrons lived in Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vermont. During the 1800s, some moved to Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Ontario (Canada), Australia, France, and to Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, and Washington D.C. Later descendants also lived in New Zealand, Mexico, and in Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin, and elsewhere.
