William Armistead, probably from Yorkshire, and his wife, Anne, were living in Virginia, soon after 1635. He recieved land grants in Elizabeth City County in 1636 and other years, and in Gloucester County, Virginia, in 1651. He was the father of four children. He died before 1660. Descendants listed, chiefly following male lines only, lived in Virginia, Maryland, and elsewhere.
