The earliest Goodpasture so far found in North America is Jacob Goodpasture, who died in Augusta County, Virginia, in 1675/6, leaving an orphan son, Abraham. Other Goodpasters soon appear, a Solomon in 1773, who migrated to Washington County, Tennessee, ca. 1785, where John appeared in 1787, another Abraham in 1785, and in 1791, Isaac; all of whom were living in Bath County, Kentucky; all of whom were living in Bath County, Kentucky by 1800. Abraham Goodpasture moved to Overton County, Tennessee, about the same time. Descendants of these men lived in Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and elsewhere. Includes other Goodpaster/Goodpasture families.
