John Carlton and Elizabeth Wallace were married in England about 1750. They immigrated to America prior to 1778, at which time part of the family migrated from Albemarle County, Virginia to Wilkes County, North Carolina. Other descendants moved to Kentucky, Tennessee, Iowa, Indiana, Arkansas and elsewhere.
Includes Barlow, Hagler, Howard, Laxton, Pearson, Rimmer and related families.
