Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Bear (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from Germany and Switzerland; others came from Austria, Denmark, France, Ireland, and Wales. Many were Mennonites and Palatinate immigrants. In the 1700's, some settled in Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Early ancestors included John Baer who immigrated from Switzerland before 1730; and John Melchoir or Christophel (Stoffel) Baer who came on the ship "Phoenix" in 1743 to Philadelphia; also four brothers, John, Jacob, Abraham and Samuel Bare, who were born in Rockingham County, Virginia and moved to Seneca County, Ohio ca. 1820. During the 1800's, some Baers immigrated to Alberta, New Brunswick, and Ontario (Canada), and to Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Utah, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, and West Virginia. Later descendants also lived in Saskatchewan (Canada), and in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Massachusetts, Montana, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, and elsewhere.

Numbering errors: vol. 5 no. 4 (June 1983) was misnumbered as vol. 5 no. 3; vol. 5 no. 5 was misnumbered as vol. 5 no. 4; vol. 5 no. 6 was misnumbered as vol. 5 no. 5; vol. 7 no. 2 (Feb 1985) was misnumbered as vol. 7 no. 8; vol. 9 no. 5 (Sep 1987) was misnumbered as no. 6.
